    Hi!

The drop-down menu on the mobile version of my website is not working. Nothing happens when you click on the menu. The desktop version menu works fine. I made sure the “Mobile Browsing” option in Appearance -> Menus is selected. What can I do to make this work?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

It seems that the menu is only broken on the homepage. The first thing I would do would be to clear your site’s cache, in case something isn’t loading correctly. I see that your cursor is not showing on the homepage either.

Please let me know if there is any difference after clearing your cache.

    Hello Kevin,

Thank you very much for trying to help me!

I installed the ‘WP Super Cache’ plugin to delete the cache. I hope that’s what you meant. Unfortunately, I don’t see any changes in the mobile version’s menu and homepage slider.

Do you have any other suggestions?

    Thanks.

    Hi!

I was finally able to act on your suggestion to deactivate the plugins one by one and I have found that the only option to make the dropdown menu on the mobile version work is if I deactivate the Kadence toolkit plugin. Regarding the slider, this only works if I choose the fullwidth option in ‘theme options’. Does that tell you anything that might help me in resolving this problem?

    Thank you!

The toolkit is actually necessary to use the theme properly, so the problem is elsewhere. Are you using a plugin for your mobile menu?

As for the slider, I’m not sure I’m following. Do you mean that the menu will work when you assign that slider, or does the slider itself only work when using the fullwidth option?

    Hi Kevin,

My apologies for the late reply.

The menu on the mobile version seems to be working now 🙂 Although there is some dark space above the topbar on the mobile version that shouldn’t be there.

The problem of the slider remains the same. If I choose any other slider than the fullwidth slider the homepage doesn’t look in order and the slider definitely doesn’t appear.

Also, sometimes I notice that the homepage is completely blank (without having done anything or having logged on for a while) and when I update the theme it works again.

Maybe the issues are related somehow? I’m really just guessing. I really don’t know why these problems occur and how to solve them.

I have two other wordpress websites which are practically the same (same theme, more or less the same plugins, etc.) and never had anything like this happen before.

I really hope you can help me because I’m completely lost.

    Thank you.

@sammyjib Sorry for the delayed response. I didn’t see your post until now. It appears that you don’t have any home page content enabled in Theme Options> Home Layout. Be sure you clear your cache after activating the modules to be sure that you’re seeing the latest version of your site.

The dark space above your topbar is the wp admin bar. It shouldn’t be showing all the time, so you likely have a plugin that’s adding this.

@mdevathaire Please start a new topic for all support queries. Thanks! I’m seeing your menu show in mobile. Though you do have some CSS in your child theme that’s throwing off the layout of your site.

    Hello @zentoenergy,

This is actually the Virtue Free theme forum. You need to open a new support ticket here to get support for the DIVI theme: https://www.elegantthemes.com/forum/

    Good luck!

WordPress: Why is the menu/navigation bar not showing on mobile?

  • Created on June 23, 2016
  • Author Phil (pipdig)
  • WordPress Category FAQ

Please note that the information on this website is for pipdig WordPress themes. If you are using a theme from another provider, the settings may not be the same.

You may notice that your main menu/navigation bar does not appear on mobile devices or tablets. This can happen for 3 main reasons:

1. There is no menu assigned to the “Main” position

This can happen if you haven’t created a menu and assigned it to the “Main” menu position. You can do this from the Appearance > Menu section of your dashboard.

For more information on setting up your menus, see this guide.

Primary menu

2. There is a plugin that breaks the menu

A plugin could break the mobile menu. You can test this by following the steps in this guide.

3. There is broken javascript on your site

Broken javascript caused by other plugins/widgets can also break the mobile menu. It is possible to test this by disabling all plugins on your site (except the pipdig Power Pack). If the mobile menu starts working, that means one of the plugins you disabled was breaking it. Just re-enable each plugin one by one until the menu breaks again. You can use this method to identify the source of the error and remove corrupted plugins.

There may also be broken javascript in a widget. This can be tested by moving all your widgets to the “Inactive Widgets” section of the Appearance > Widgets page.
